A little bit of catching up

It has been awhile since I have blogged. I apologize to all the Scott fans out there. We do not have internet at our apartment, so it's a little difficult to get blogging time in. I will try and be better tho. We love love LOVE living in California. We have not looked back since we have been here. Denton is loving school, and doing great. He only has one more semester of classes then he will just work on his thesis. It is going a lot faster then we planned, which means..... LESS DEBT!! yay!

Star and I stay home, so we try and keep busy by going to the park, running errands, playing in the house, working out, napping, reading, crafts, etc... She loves to be busy! And if she can be outside all day, rain or shine, she would. She keeps life entertaining and so enjoyable. I just can't get enough of her it seems. It's funny how sometimes I cannot wait for her to go to bed, and then a half hour after she is in bed I miss her! haha.. I will go and watch her sleep. I can picture my self doing it still when she is like sixteen, and she will wake up to me in her face! hahaha... I look forward to that. Anyways...

As most of you know, we are expecting again! We are so excited. We will bring this little one in the world the last week of June. My due date is actually July 3rd, Denton's bday, but having had a c-section with Star, I can schedule a week early( sooooo nice!) That's it for now. Here are some fun pics of Star! ( She is better looking than us, so no need for us to be in them right?!)

Star's first birthday!

Star is finally one year old. I cannot believe how fast the time goes. People say it does, and man they were right. She is pretty talented. She is walking like a champ, running, walking backwards, climbing and jumping off things. She is really good at entertaining herself, which is such a blessing! She does great with other kids, and loves to be busy. She is a busy body. And that girl can eat!! and I mean EAT!! Look at those cheeks of hers. She loves every kind of food too. This girl is not picky at all! (WOOHOO!)

Since her birthday is so close to Halloween, I decided to have a costume party for her. It was sooo fun. More for me of course, but still tons of fun. All her little cousins came, we had a pinata, costume contest, painted pumpkins, cupcakes, and just fun!!

I look forward to this coming year to see how she will grow and develop even more. I love this girl with all of my heart!

There's a monster under my bed!

About two weeks ago Starlyn woke up at about 12:30 am screaming her head off. This has never ever happened, even when she was first born. We couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. Her diaper was clean, she did not have a fever, no burps. We just didn't know what was wrong. "Maybe she had a nightmare?" I told Denton. But he convinced me that they are too young and it can't happen. It took about an hour for her to FINALLY calm down and go back to sleep.

They next morning was her 9 month check up and I brought it up with the doctor. He explained to me it was a night terror/nightmare. First thing I thought was..ha told you Denton..haha! That explains why we couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. If she was still sleeping while having an episode that would be a night terror. Since she woke up, that is considered a nightmare.

Unfortunately there is nothing you can really do about it. He told me to not feed her or pick her up cause she will get used to it and then it's what I will have to do every time. That's easy for me! Well it has happened now once a week since then, like clock work on the same day. WEIRD! it makes me sad for her. And cause she is in our room, it's almost frustrating which I feel horrible to say but it is.

Starlyn has been sleeping thru the night since she was 7 weeks old. She is pretty much Awesome, so maybe this is making up for the past amazing 9 months we have had. Maybe to humble us....ha? I hope they do not continue, or they won't last an hour each time. I guess I should look at the positive: It's only once a week not every night, it's only for an hour and not five times a night or worse, and once she is a sleep she still sleeps til about 8 am. So really, it's not that bad. I just pray I have the patience for it!

cousins

Little Spencer!!

My booger

I focused on the couch on accident..haha! They are still cute!!

Starlyn got to play with little Spencer before we headed back home from the reunions. Denton had to leave early to go back to work, so I spent a couple days in St. George with my dear dear dear friend Stacia and her fam. My sister only lives a little over an hour away, so we got to have a play date!! They are precious!! Spencer is the closest cousin she has in age and I am sad to be moving further away cause they won't get to see each other too often.... Happy birthday to Spencer tomorrow. He is one year old. I can't believe how fast it goes. Starlyn is already nine months. I will post about that later. I need to share all her new tricks!

Family Reunions

We just came back from Denton's family reunions. It is always sad to leave, but we always look forward to the next. It was nice to get away and relax and just enjoy everyone's company. Activities we did were hiking, motorcycles, swimming, row boating, Olympics, volleyball, marsh mellow wars, dominoes, hand and foot, nerts, and so much more.

I love Denton's family! They truly are amazing. They are hilarious and I feel so blessed to be a part of their family. I couldn't ask for better in-laws. There is so much I could write about, but that would take forever, so here are pics!!

p.s. my very very very very dear dear friend and her three girls were able to come and spend a couple days with us. So much fun, I will miss her so much when I move!!

One less organ!

Most of you have heard that I got my gall bladder out, but let me share the story with you.....

Saturday june 11th, Denton's aunt and uncle were in town, so we decided to go up to Salt Lake and hang out with the fam. We went to This is the Place. Way cool by the way. It is basically a town and reenactment of how the pioneers lived. Anyways, Denton and I went to the barber shop so he could get a shave, and BAM out of no where I start getting this horrible horrible horrible case of heart burn. I have never had it like this before. My heart was racing and I broke out into this sweat. Not fun. It came in the form of contractions also. It would spike for about five minutes then go away for about the same time. It lasted about an hour.

By the time we got home, I was super nauseous. I hate throwing up, so I am the person who will wait until it comes on its own, and trust you me, it did! Afterwards I felt sooooo much better. We were thinking maybe I had food poisoning.

The next day, I started work for the summer. GYMNASTICS! Wohoo! I was pumped, so excited and Starlyn was going to go to the day care there. She loves being around kids. The morning went well, Starlyn did awesome, she was the most popular kid there. By the time I got home around noon, the pain had returned, but about ten times worse now. The pain penetrated into my back. Sitting, standing, laying, any position made it worse. Something was wrong. My sister Ashley had just got diagnosed with GERD so maybe I was getting that too. I tried all the over the counter heart burn medicines I could, but nothing. I decided I should go to the Doctors. i went that same day and had my blood drawn and was given some prescription heart burn meds.

I got home and took the meds, I just wanted that pain to go away. I took it, and BAM it only made it worse. My nausea came back, I couldn't keep anything down, and I noticed I was getting dehydrated. Not a fun experience. I had Denton give me a blessing, and I was able to stick it out another night, only this time the pain never went away with throwing up. I got my blood results the next day and they said that my liver tested high, so they were going to do more testing. I told them what was going on, so they scheduled a ultra sound for 5p.m that day. I wasn't allowed to eat or drink until after my ultra sound, which was no problem since I could not do that anyways.

Things just kept getting worse. My stomach hurt to the touch, the pain radiated from my chest thru my back, my heart was racing and I couldn't move. I called my doc and they said go to the ER. I called Denton and he came to my rescue. We got to the ER and tests were done to figure out what was going on. They gave me some pain and nausea meds thur an IV to help me. About two or three hours later, results were in. I have gallstone/pancreantitis . I was really really sick the doc said. Three stones escaped blocking my pancreas and causing it to eat itself. Not a good feeling. The admitted me to the hospital and I went and had the escaped stones removed right away.

What a huge difference! I felt soo much better, but still not well. Wed afternoon my gallbladder was taken out. Because my pancreas was soo sick, I was not allowed to leave the hospital for a couple days. I was on a clear liquid diet forever. When your pancreas is sick, you don't want to eat so it gets a break and can heal up. I stayed in the hospital until friday evening. My pancreas is still sick, and I go back in a couple weeks to have it checked again. They put me on a low fat diet, which I was already on so that's easy! I feel soo much better. Still a little sore. I can't lift or do anything for two weeks, so it's been nice having Denton be my slave...hahahah (evil laugh!)

Denton really has been great. So patient with me, and doing great with Starlyn. I am so grateful for him and for the love he has for our family! I can't wait to be able to work out again and return to my normal activities. Not being able to do anything is seriously the hardest thing to do. We've had some friends from our ward help us out, and that has been so nice. But getting served is way harder than serving. It has been humbling. I hope no one I know has to go thru what I did, not fun at all!!

Growing up sooo fast!

My little baby is growing soo fast. She will be 8 months in a week and a half. I can't believe how fast it really goes. It has been so much fun. She has her two bottom teeth now. They are freakin precious. I hope to get a picture soon. She can finally roll over from back to front or front to back. But she actually would rather be up on her feet. I really think she will walk before she crawls. She is constantly pulling herself up and working those legs. We sometimes try and help her to walk, and she goes up on her little tipsie toes. She looks like a little ballerina! She brings so much joy into our lives, and I absolutely love her!

She LOVES mirrors!

We put Denton's gloves on her, and they looked like wings. It was soooo funny, she was entertained forever with them! (and of course we laughed at her the whole time)

California here we come

For the last little while, we have been trying to decide where to go for grad school. Denton got accepted to BYU and to CSU-Chico. Both we really win win, but Chico of course is where we are from and all our family is there. We fasted and prayed for a long time, and we finally got the answer that the Lord supports where ever we choose. So we weighed the pros and cons, and we chose CSU-Chico!!!

We are soo excited to be back around all our family, both our families!! Of course all the grandmas are excited for little Starlyn!! It has been over six years since we have lived in Cali. I miss the weather, soooooo excited for NO SNOW!! It will be weird tho leaving the Utah bubble. I was talking with Denton, and I am convinced that I have been in Utah too long, cause some of my concerns were the people....hahahaha! How sad. But I hope that I can have some fun missionary experiences. It's a little hard in Utah when everyone is LDS.

I will miss Utah tho. I hate to say it, but I will. I think I will miss the bubble, even tho I hate the bubble. But it is nice having so many around who believe the same as I do. I will miss all those I have come close to here. Hopefully we will make it back to visit.

We move in August, and I am counting down the days!!!! Woohooo!!

From thailand to my kitchen

So as most of you know, We love love love Thai food, especially their dessert! I decided to make sweet rice and mango, and it turned out AWESOME! It was like we were actually eating it from Thai kitchen (our favorite Thai place in Utah). If anyone wants some or the recipe I am happy to share the awesomeness!

Tummy time

You can't really tell by these pictures, but Starlyn HATES tummy time. Well she will like it for about five minutes and then she will cry and cry. She needs to learn tho, tummy time is good for her..ha. I did get some good shots of her tho while she was enjoying it. She is getting better height and she tries to move her legs, and it looks like she is swimming..haha.. which is super funny. She also, can stick her but up in the air, but that only lasts like two seconds. I believe she will walk before she conquers crawling, rolling over, and rocking back and forth. Until then, she will be forced to like tummy time!

I love this picture! (Tara, I think she looks a lot like you in it!)

I had to add this picture cause her shorts are awesome! Look at those ruffles!!!

Look at the height and arm extension!!

I love my daughter!!!

My little garden

For mother's day, Denton got me my first little garden. I have three peppers! A habenaro pepper, a banana pepper, and jalapeño pepper! I am super excited!!! I was telling Denton that the frame he got me for valentines was the best gift ever, and that I didn't think he could top it, and then he surprises me with this. I seriously have the best husband ever!!! I am sooo excited, and cannot wait to eat them. It should take about 75 days til the are "eat" ready! Yummy!!

At the park

This picture cracks me up...hahahahahahhaha!!

The weather has been beautiful, which means we can go outside on walks, strolls and anything our hearts desire. Today I decided to take the camera with me!

Upgrade!

We came to go to bed and this is how we found her...hahaha!!

Starlyn has officially upgraded to her crib/play pin. I can't believe how big she is! She is already 19 Lbs. My little chunker!!
